Viviane White, 50, lives in St. Anne de Bellevue, on the shore of Lac St. Louis, the receiving end of contaminated sediment from Cornwall's chemical plants.

Viviane's New Zealand commune grew organic food and, although she's never been an activist, she's concerned about environmental health. She believes in the democratic process and, when she hears a protest organizer say the MAI gives corporations so much power that Parliament won't matter, she invites a protest organizer to talk to her friends and neigbours.
